Reebok Floatride Energy 3 Features
Comfort and Fit
A comfortable shoe which fits nicely, especially because of the gusseted tongue and mesh upper. This shoe just works for many runners. Some find it a bit long (sizing down by 1/2 size), but the shoe receives positive reviews for comfort and fit.
Traction
Excellent traction across road and simple trail surfaces like gravel paths and moderate trails. Those who like to roam on dirt will have a friend with the Floatride Energy 3.
Durability
A solid shoe which should last a full running season, even with high use. Materials are sturdy and well constructed.
Support
The Floatride Energy 3 is a neutral shoe with a nice balanced feel. The shoe feels responsive without being overly cushioned or bouncy. Runners describe it as firm but comfortable.
Breathability
The Floatride breathes well but can feel a little warm to some runners because the gusseted tongue may be overbuilt.
Style
For the price, this is a strong and timeless style which looks good running or even just out on the casual.
Flexibility and Responsiveness
Nothing flashy here, the shoe has a pleasing amount of flex and responsiveness without compromising durability and support.
Reebok Floatride Energy 3 Construction
Outsole
Excellent 2mm+ rubber outsoles with nearly full coverage and the teeth to hit some dirt as well as road — no need to stay glued to pavement. Gravel roads are fair game in this shoe.
Midsole
Reebok’s branded foam is called Floatride Energy Foam and it does a nice job of providing a cushioned and balanced ride without absorbing energy or being too squishy.
Upper
The mesh upper is a step forward for Reebok, providing a nice fit without feeling loose. Some find the heel to be a bit to low (collar can rub), but this is not typical for most runners. The gusseted tongue compliments the upper and the entire shoe is durable. The heel collar comes with a heel tab pull.
Lacing System
Lacing tends to work or not work with shoes. We haven’t found any complaints about the Floatride Energy 3 lacing system. It does a good job of keeping the foot in place and staying tied.
Conclusion
A good workhorse shoe which can handle just about any challenge. Most reviewers indicate the shoe wasn’t the best at anything, but was good at everything. For the price, this is a great shoe for a beginning runner and should last for a full season of running.
